Domestic Day Camp- Quilting Results
This week I had the privilege of spending some time with this sweet family of girls. They learned how to String Quilt on paper.
Here they are with their almost finished quilt. It is made of Christmas fabrics. Do you see the smiles on their faces? They are like this all the time. :o) A pure joy to be with. When they would make a mistake they'd just laugh it off and try to fix it. They showed great perseverance this week. Way to go girls!!!

Daddy's T-Shirt Quilt
Here is a T-Shirt quilt top. I am making this for a friend. Her husband died (very young) and she wanted a quilt made for their son from his T-Shirts. It is a very humbling experience to work with something like this. Those who think quilting is just a hobby or just making a "blanket" are sadly mistaken. I can't wait to get it finished to give her so she can bless their son with something so meaningful.

A Day at the Guild
We try to volunteer at least one Thursday a month at the Quilter's Guild, which I am president of. Our usual days are Tuesdays, but there is so much activity then that it is hard to concentrate. Our guild is committed to be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and two Saturday's a month. Thursdays are usually pretty quiet.
Joining the guild is one of the best things we have done. We have been members for about 4 years. Not only have we learned TONS of quilting skills for a very small cost, but all the money that we raise goes back into the community and we give to a wide variety of groups.
I've started a Double Irish Chain I think I am going to donate for our family reunion's auction. Right now life seems so over whelming with "To-Do's.

Quilted Window
This is what hangs on the wall over my desk. Jeff had some old wooden windows and I glued in some OLD hand pieced squares that someone gave me. When you look closely you can see the uneven seams and how the stitches are loose, but oh how I love it. Today quilting is so much like a math/art project. When these squares were made there was no rotary cutter and twenty different rulers to choose from, nor were there sewing machine that you have to have a degree to understand how to use. I love modern technology, I LOVE my rotary cutter and rulers, perhaps that is why I truly appreciate a square (even more so a whole quilt) that has been hand cut and pieced together!

Quilting Blogs
This year I am president our Quilter's Guild which has made it even more difficult for me to find time to actually QUILT! I have 4 quilt tops pieced together...waiting for quilting. Maybe next week?
Sew Mama Sew is hosting a Quilting month during Feb. I LOVE this blog! Lots of great ideas!
I also LOVE Niki's blog. Very inspiring.

Grandma is Crying
Jeff's Mom received her Sisters Wall Hanging, yesterday and called us crying! She lives 1100 miles away. I can't explain the feeling when you make something to give away and the recipient truly loves it. That gratitude becomes priceless to the maker. Even though I did not make this one, Olivia did, I feel like I was part of it.
